So today I participated in The Amazing Race with my school district, Dublin City Schools. It was part of our wellness initiative and it was so much fun! Teams were made up of 4-5 people from our building and we had to create costumes related to wellness…We have different tasks to complete while exploring downtown Dublin then wrapped it all up with a slice of pizza. It was fabulously fun even though it was only 40 degrees outside and had hailed about an hour before we were to report.
We run a “race” every year with out students…we “run” against the curriculum pacing guide, we “run” against parents, we “run” against tiredness, we “run” against so many things, BUT we “run” with so many things too. We “run” with our students as they complete tasks…we “run” with our leaders as we take on new initiatives and programs…we “run” with our parents when they are walking along side us and their children but most importantly, we “run” with our students as they grow, grow as children, grow as learners and grow their personalities. We have a first row seat to their successes, failures and all the in-betweens…now who has the luckiest job in the world? I think we all know the answer.
